Brown Bag Cards and Portfolio

Hello, everyone, Happy New Year, and welcome to the CutCardstock blog where we enjoy showing you how we have used the gorgeous products from the CutCardStock Shop. This month the members of the DT are showcasing the marvelous Brown Bag products, As a matter of fact the Brown Bag Envelopes are now on sale at 10% off! The lovely color of the Brown Bag products is a bit darker than kraft but much richer and is truly eco-friendly since it is made of 100% recycled paper fibers!

I had a request for a set of CAS cards for several occasions so I decided to make a portfolio as well to hold the cards.

I used Brown Bag 12X12 Cardstock for the base of the portfolio, A-2 Brown Bag Folded Cards, Brown Bag A-2 Bag Flap EnvelopesBasis Red Cardstock for sentiment panels and matting, and Curious Metallic Ice Gold Cardstock for the jotting panels. I used the Impression Obsession Edger dies for the sentiments, and a Tim Holtz die for the rosette. I also used touches of bakers twine and gingham ribbon for some added texture. The size of the portfolio is ample for 6 cards and 6 envelopes. (I actually made two sets of this project–one set with baker’s twine and one set with the gingham, so I wanted to show both types of cards)
For the portfolio I used a 10 1/2″x12″ piece of Brown Bag CS and scored on the 10 1/2″ side at 7″. In order to make the 1/2″ spine, I scored on the 12 side at 5 3/4″ and 6 1/4″. Using a bone folder, make all of the score lines sharp.
The following will indicate where to use adhesive to make the  pockets. Fold this panel up to make the two pockets for the cards and envelopes.
I then used Red Basis Cardstock to make both the front and back panels, topping the matting with another Brown Bag Cardstock panel. These 3 layers of CS make the portfolio very stable. I also added a heavy red/white baker’s twine to tie the portfolio together, as well as a TH rosette made from Brown Bag CS and a twine bow. Of course you can decorate the front as simply or as fancy as you wish. Just remember to consider some way to tie the folder together!! Smiles!! I have forgotten this too many times!!!
I used Basis Red CS for the sentiment panels:
and Basis Red CS matting and Curious Metallic Ice Gold CS for the jotting panel:
The following picture will show how I decorated the envelopes as well as the inside of the portfolio with a little pocket for gift tags.
I hope you like my little creation and will try one for yourself. Would love to see whatever you make!! Thank you so much for coming by today and we hope to see you again real soon for more Brown Bag projects! Until the next time, hugs from Jacque!!
