Hi, Carol from the DT here. Sharing a Springtime birthday card as my first project on the CutCardstock.com blog. I’m so excited to be here and I was even more excited when I discovered that CutCardstock.com carries one of my all time favorite papers for card making: Curious Metallics.
I have loved this line for years. It’s great as a base to make your own cards, or to use as a focal element in your cards as I’ve done with this one. If you have a die cut or embossing machine, you definitely want some of this cardstock. It also works really well with craft punches.
Let’s get started. I used another CutCardstock.com folded A-7 card for my base along with coordinating printed paper I had on hand. I also computer generated my birthday sentiment.
I trimmed my patterned paper to 4.5×6.5 and then went to work on the “star” of my card. I cut a piece of Curious Metallics cardstock in a color called Shadow. My picture doesn’t do its beauty justice. The metallic shimmer catches the light and is a gorgeous pewter color. I cut this to 4×5.5 and ran it through my diecut machine using a quatrefoil patterned embossing folder.
The weight of this cardstock is perfect for embossing / debossing. It holds the pattern well so you can really see and feel the texture.
I attached my patterned panel and embossed panel to the card then using additional pieces of the Curious Metallics and patterned paper , matted my birthday sentiment. I added a couple of pieces of coordinating washi tape, Stickles glitter glue, self adhesive rhinestones, buttons, and a layered paper flower made from more scraps to finish up the card.
The weight of the Curious Metallics cardstock makes it great for layering using glue dots or foam dots to give your cards some depth. It’s also available in a variety of colors and on sale this month!
