Funky Flower Card and Envelope

After cleaning my craft room, I came across a funky flower die I’ve never used. I challenged myself to make something with it immediately using a bright CutCardStock color. Hi, I’m Maureen (A Little Mo Crafty) and I have a card idea today that is easily repeatable. Most importantly, it will wow your friends because you took the effort to decorate the envelope to match!

Start with a top fold card by cutting an 4 1/4″ by 11″ sheet of DCS Mantis Green in half, longways. Score the sheet for a top fold at the halfway mark.

Next, take a flower die from your stash to cut out a large 3.5″ flower shape in Classic Crest Solar White paper. My die cut is unusual because it does not cut a border to fit the pieces in, so it took some playing around with it to figure out where the petals are supposed to go.

You’ll notice in this picture I decided not to use a template pattern and went off the edge of the card. Oopsie! I consider it a lesson learned and a decorative element, ha ha ha. I trimmed it off and correct this in the next flower placement however.

Once your Classic Crest Solar White pieces are placed and glued, cut out another center piece in a pattern paper. Additionally, I added a stamped sentiment.

Next I add a decorative trim to the bottom of the card. I happened to have a coordinating color, which was the inspiration for this to begin with. I love that CutCardStock has colors to support anything I can dream up!

From here, take a Classic Crest Solar White A2 envelope and lay it flat. Die cut another flower in the DCS Mantis Green this time and save the outside piece. Here is where I corrected my spacing issues by using it as a guide for placing the petals.

For this flower, I’m only adding a portion to the edge to leave room to address the envelope. In addition, I also add a patterned paper center and trim off the excess. Glue this on thoroughly.

The final step is to add a Classic Crest Solar White panel to the inside for writing. Now you have a dramatic card effect and coordinating envelope that wows the recipient but is easy to assemble! Wouldn’t this look great in so many different color combos?

Be sure to check out the Spring lineup of colors on the CutCardStock website this month! I love the bold colors but there are pastels and monochromatic combos galore. I might make one of these in every color combo, ha ha!

Thanks for joining me today – see you next time!

    1. Thank you for that info… I didn’t know Walmart carried that kind of stuff, lol! Don’t be surprised if you see me making something with it (and her leaf dies)! 😀
