A Fresh Twist on a Gift Card Holder
I recently joined a cardmaking challenge where the colors were provided as part of the challenge. The plum and lilac combo gave my card a regal appearance so I wanted to try another idea as a gift card holder. Hi I’m Maureen (A Little Mo Crafty) and I think using unique gift card ideas for the holiday is important to give it a planned look for your gift giving. Guess what? You can find all the colors you need at CutCardStock!

Cut a strip of Lessebo Aubergine paper into a 4″ by 8.5″ piece. Add fold score lines at 1.5″, 4″, 5″ and 6″.

Second, cut 2 pieces of Lessebo Amethyst. Run these through a machine with a textured plate die cut. I’m using a houndstooth pattern but another popular idea might be stripes or gingham.

Find spots in the design where you can cut the edges off evenly. Since my design ends at the 4″ mark, I’ve cut right at the edge of the houndstooth. If needed, measure this out with a sample.

Now take the paper strip and fold up on the mountain piece that will become the gift card pocket – the 4″ and 5″ spots you scored earlier. Run the edge of this through a die cut machine with a top note edge to cut out space for the gift card. Alternatively, you can use a punch for this or the edge of a stitched or scalloped circle.

Glue the mountain piece together, but keep the glue from approaching the opening of the folded edge. I ran glue around the bottom and side edges only. Use a clothespin to clamp the piece together as needed. Use a rounded corner punch for the edges.

Now, to decorate! Adhere the houndstooth pieces to the outside flaps and the top foldover flap. Cut holly leaves in Lessebo Hunter Green and some berries in the same Lessebo Aubergine and Lessebo Amethyst. Glue to the front flap and add glitter if desired.

Attach a velcro closure to the inside of the top flap. I use extra glue even though the velcro is sticky for extra security.

Cut a Cougar White piece for stamping at 3.75″ by 2.25″. Stamp a holiday sentiment of your choosing and attach to the inside. Then you’re ready to tuck a gift card into the slot that was created from the top note cut.

That’s all there is to it! It’s a super simple evening or weekend project for last minute gift card gifting. I love the CutCardStock collection paper choices, especially the newest collection of Lessebo, because these colors are not ones I think of for the holidays. What color combos would you try?

Thanks for joining me today and feel free to pin this project on Pinterest for your last minute holiday ideas. See you next time!
