DIY Merry Christmas Slimline Z-Fold Card Tutorial

Hey crafty friends! It’s Tiffani from A Krafting Alley, and today I’m excited to share how I created this festive Merry Christmas Slimline Z-Fold Card. This card is made using an SVG design I created, along with cardstock from CutCardStock.com and my electronic cutting machine. It’s a fun layered project full of dimension, color, and holiday cheer!

Supplies Used

Cardstock

Tools & Adhesives

  • Electronic cutting machine (Cricut, Silhouette, Siser, etc.)
  • Merry Christmas Slimline Z-Fold SVG
  • Pen or marker (if your machine has a draw feature)
  • Liquid glue
  • Foam tape and/or foam squares

Step 1: Upload and Cut Your SVG

I started by downloading my SVG file and uploading it into my cutting machine software. I cut out all of the pieces for the Z-fold card and had my machine write the inside sentiment using the pen/draw feature.

Step 2: Cut and Layer the Decorative Elements

Here is how each part of the design was cut:

Christmas Tree

  • Gumdrop Green
  • Red Wagon
  • Yellow Jacket
  • Vanilla Bean Brown (tree trunk)

Holly Leaves & Berries

  • Burgundy
  • Hunter Green

Stocking

  • Cougar White
  • Red Wagon
  • Gumdrop Green

Present

  • Gumdrop Green
  • Hunter Green
  • Red Wagon
  • Burgundy (bow layer)

Sentiment

“Christmas” was cut from Black Licorice with a Red Wagon offset shadow.

Step 3: Assemble Your Design Pieces

Once all of the pieces were cut, it was time to assemble everything:

Present

  1. Glue the Burgundy bow piece on top of the red bow layer.
  2. Add foam tape behind the red bow for dimension.
  3. Glue the Hunter Green gift layer onto the Gumdrop Green base.
  4. Add foam tape to the back of the gift box and place the bow on top.
  5. Adhere the finished present to the card base.

Stocking

  1. Glue the white stocking layer and the green outline onto the red stocking piece.
  2. Add foam tape to the back and attach it to the card base.

Christmas Tree

  1. Glue the Gumdrop Green layer onto the red layer.
  2. Add the red layer on top of the yellow layer using foam squares for height.
  3. Glue the brown tree stump behind the bottom edge.
  4. Add foam squares to the back and attach the finished tree to the card base.

Sentiments & Holly

  • Layer the black “Christmas” word on top of its red shadow, then add foam tape to the back and place it on the card.
  • Glue both of the holly leaves and berries to the card base using liquid glue.
  • Add the “Merry” sentiment cut from black cardstock using liquid glue to finish the phrase.

That’s It — Your Slimline Z-Fold Christmas Card Is Complete!

And just like that, you’ve created a festive and dimensional Merry Christmas Slimline Z-Fold Card that’s perfect for gifting or sending with your holiday greetings this year. You can easily switch up the cardstock colors to create different versions of this card too!

If your cutting machine doesn’t have a pen/draw feature, feel free to skip the inside sentiment and hand-write your own message.

Thank you so much for crafting along with me today! If you make this card, please share your creation on social media and tag me — I love seeing your beautiful projects.

Happy crafting!
