“This Note Is for You” – Gender Neutral Musical Card

Hey crafty friends! 🎶 It’s Tiffani from A Krafting Alley, and today I’m sharing a fun musical-themed card that works beautifully as a gender-neutral card and can be used for almost any occasion. Whether it’s a birthday, thank you, or just a note to say hello, this card has a classic look that’s full of charm.

Supplies Used

Dies & Stamps

  • Spellbinders + Bibi Cameron Mini Musical Instruments die set
  • Spellbinders + Bibi Cameron Musical Notes and Staff Pop-Up die set
  • Spellbinders + Bibi Cameron Family Musical Mix Greetings stamp set

Cardstock (from CutCardStock.com)

Other Supplies

  • Distress Oxide Ink – Hickory Smoke
  • VersaFine Onyx Black Ink
  • Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Pen in Clear
  • Blending foam & tool
  • Nuvo liquid glue
  • Spellbinders Platinum 6 die-cutting machine
  • Bone folder
  • Reverse tweezers

Card Instructions

Step 1: Create the Card Base

I started with an 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock and cut it in half. Each half was scored at 4.25″ to create two standard A2 card bases.

Step 2: Die-Cut the Musical Elements

  • From the Musical Notes and Staff Pop-Up set, I cut the music notes in Black Licorice cardstock.
  • From the Mini Musical Instruments set, I die-cut various instruments and the piano.
    • Piano keys: Black Licorice (top) + Cougar White (backing)
    • Instrument bases: Stardream Metallic Gold
    • Instrument accent pieces: Stardream Metallic Antique Gold

After cutting, I assembled the layered instruments and piano keys, then set them aside.

Step 3: Add Dimension with Ink Blending

The white card base looked a little too plain, so I used Distress Oxide in Hickory Smoke to softly ink-blend a gray shadow around the edges of the card front. This gave the background a subtle depth without overpowering the die cuts.

Step 4: Stamp the Sentiment

Using the Family Musical Mix Greetings stamp set, I stamped “This note is for you” in the top right corner with VersaFine Onyx Black ink. To help it pop, I blended a touch more Hickory Smoke ink around the edges of the sentiment and added a hint of sparkle using a Wink of Stella glitter brush.

Step 5: Assemble the Card

I arranged the instruments, notes, and piano across the front of the card, attaching them with liquid glue. Surprisingly I didn’t use my usual foam tape…lol!

Step 6: Decorate the Inside

I left the inside blank so I could personalize the card for any occasion later. To tie it all together, I added one extra music note and a small off-cut of piano keys to the inside — I love using leftover pieces for a finishing touch!

Final Thoughts

I had so much fun creating this musical greeting card! The dies and stamps from Spellbinders and Bibi Cameron are incredibly versatile — you can change the colors of the instruments and notes to match any style or theme. A great gender neutral card!

I love how this card turned out: it’s elegant, detailed, and perfect for music lovers of all ages. 🎼

Thanks so much for reading today’s tutorial! I hope this project inspires you to pull out your musical dies and create something unique. Until next time, stay crafty! 💛
