July 4th Rosette Card

Hi everyone, Patty here with you today. Our nation’s birthday is just a month away! It just happens to be my husband’s birthday as well. He has never had to work on his birthday. I am a little envious of that! To get the patriotic feelings going, I decided to make a July 4th rosette card. I used Pixi Dust Designs Fancy Rosettes die and CutCardStock in three colors: Pop Tone Cherry Red, Cougar White and Discount Card Stock Patriot Blue.

Getting Started

I started by cutting out all of the rosettes. You want to use the lightest weight cardstock you can for the rosettes. In order to get different sized rosettes, I trimmed some of the rosettes down on the back edge.

Next, I folded each rosette along the score lines. The fold is a basic accordion fold. It Takes two folded die cuts to make one rosette. I glued the edges together and held them together using hot glue. I also cut out one inch circles to have a base to glue the rosettes on. The folding was the hardest part. That, and waiting for the glue to dry!

Building the Rosettes

Once the glue was dried, I brought the two halves together to form a circle and glued those pieces together. Next, I took a circle and added a lot of glue. I flattened my rosette out and pushed it together. Then, I set it in the circle with a pile of glue and held it there.

I glued all of the Rosettes on to their circles. Next, I adhered the decorative center pieces onto the rosettes. To add a bit of sparkle, I colored on the folds of the rosettes with my Ohuhu Glitter Marker. Finally, I glued one rosette on top of another for a bit of dimension.

To create the background, I stenciled on some Cougar White Card Stock using Waffle Flowers Plaid Stencil. I created a 5 x 7 card and the stencil covered it perfectly. I stenciled using Catherine Pooler’s Rockin’ Red and Dress Blue Inks.

I adhered the sentiment onto the card. The “Happy” is from Simon Says Stamp. The “4th” is an SVG I cut on my Scan N Cut. To finish, I added sequin stars from Hero Arts.

Thank you so much for joining us today! Enjoy your day!

Patty
