Pretty Pastel Floral Card for Mom

Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 12th, so it’s just around the corner. This is a great time to show appreciation for the mother’s in your life. Birgit here with you today, with a pretty pastel floral card, celebrating “Mom”.

List of Supplies Used:

For today’s project, I pulled out some Pop Tones colored cardstock. The #65 weight of this cardstock makes layering easy and doesn’t create too much bulk if the card is going to be mailed out. As you can see in the photo, I pulled out several colors but only listed the colors I actually used on the card.

Preparing the Pretty Pastel Flowers:

To begin with, I die cut a number of flowers and leaves using Pop Tones Berrylicious, Sour Apple, Limeade, Pink Lemonade and Grapesicle. I also cut three doilies out of #80 Classic Crest Neenah Solar White cardstock.

Next, I prepared the background by embossing a piece of #80 Classic Crest Neenah Solar White cardstock using a highly textured embossing folder. Before running the cardstock through with the embossing folder, I spritzed both sided of the cardstock with water. This gives a clear, crisp embossed image and is less likely to tear your cardstock.

Card Assembly:

I played around with the design, settling on this layout for the doily and flowers.

Once the design was settled, I adhered the embossed panel onto an A2 top folding card front made using #80 Classic Crest Neenah Solar White Cardstock. I glued the flowers on using Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Finished Card:

To finish the card, I added a small tag that I cut from a scrap of Kraft cardstock that I had in my scrap bin. I stamped the tag with the word “Mom” and tied a twine bow for an added bit of texture.

This card has lots of delicate and feminine features. Just perfect to honor my mother in law on Mother’s day.
