Sympathy Card
Hi friends, Melissa here! One of the worst cards to make is a sympathy card but they are certainly the most beautiful cards I have ever seen.
Gather your supplies
- Classic Crest Solar White card stock
- Natural White card stock
- DCS Pearlized Textured Splash
- Frame die
- Text rub ons
- digital ephemera

Let’s get started
First off, you will need to print the digital ephemera. My printer is not a work-horse printer. It’s more like a coin operated carousel horse and can only handle paper that is no heavier than 32 lb. If your ephemera is on the lighter side, I suggest you adhere it to some white card stock to give it some stability. Then fussy cut the image out.
Next you want to cut out 3 or 4 of the frames. I cut 3 of them from Solar White and one from Natural White card stock. The Natural white is on top. Any rhyme or reason to why I did it that way? Not really, I just view Natural White card stock as special and white as utilitarian. How ever you cut your frames, adhere them together with the special one on top. This gives dimension that is distributed evenly. Set this under something heavy to dry flat.

While your frame is drying, cut panels for mat layers. I cut the Splash panel down to 4 3/4 inches by 6 3/4 inches. Then, because this is such beautiful paper, I cannot “waste” a single bit, I cut out the inside leaving about an inch around and save the center panel for a later project.

My next panel of Natural White measures 4 1/2 by 6 1/2. This panel I decorated with using a text rub-on placing it randomly. Alternatively, you could use a script stamp, should you make a similar card.

Here’s my panel after I applied the rub-on where I wanted it and added my sentiment.

Now let’s assemble the card
Layer the Splash panel onto your 5×7 card base and then your “text” panel on that. Add your frame and focal image.

This card is really quite easy to put together. If you make a card inspired by this one, I would love to see it!
