Seasonal Birds
Hello, friends! Toni here with you for my first post as a new CutCardStock design team member. I’m so excited to have joined this wonderful team and look forward to sharing my creations with you!

It’s rather dreary in the Pacific Northwest so I decided to cheer myself up with some bright and happy colors.
STARTING THE FIRST CARD
I cut the Hero Arts background coverplate die from Pop Tone Sour Apple cardstock, then adhered it to a base of Pop Tone Gumdrop Green cardstock.

Assembling the Tropical Bird
Next, I assembled the bird by cutting out the Honey Bee Lovely Layers Spring Birds from:
- Stardream Metallic Sparkly Soft White ERIS cardstock (belly)
- Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock (beak, eye, feet)
- DSC Discount Smooth Sand Castle Tan cardstock (throat), and
- DSC Discount Raspberry Ice Pink cardstock (wings & tail).
I applied Catherine Pooler inks to darken parts of the wings and tail for contrast after that.
Finishing Touches
Not only did I add a few white pigment highlights, but I embossed the sentiment in white on Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock for a bold look.

CREATING A SECOND CARD
With the first card complete, I assessed my leftovers that included the main bird diecut in Stardream Metallic Sparkly Soft White ERIS cardstock.
Assembling the Dove
I didn’t want to waste all that glorious shimmer because it’s just too pretty. Thus, I cut out additional bird parts, resulting in a winter dove:
- more of the Stardream Metallic Sparkly Soft White ERIS cardstock (body & wings)
- Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock (beak, eye, feet), and
- DSC Discount Smooth Sand Castle Tan cardstock (belly).

I discovered that I could easily color the Stardream Metallic Sparkly Soft White ERIS cardstock without the need to dry or heat emboss the Catherine Pooler ink. Certainly, this is a huge time saver and blows my mind with the possibilities.
Layering the Second Card Base
I layered a Blank Cougar WHITE A2 Folded Discount Card Stock 110lb base with Pop Tone Sno Cone cardstock diecut with a Lawn Fawn coverplate. Then, I cut the Honey Bee Lovely Layers Winter Greenery branch from DSC Discount Smooth Sand Castle Tan cardstock and darkened it with Catherine Pooler Macchiato.
Finishing Touches
I applied a small amount of Cosmic Shimmer Fluffy Stuff, then I heat embossed it to create snow. Finally, I stamped the Taylored Expressions sentiment with Versafine Clair Nocturne.

Perhaps you have a favorite between the spring/summer bird and the winter dove? I’d love to know! Have a wonderful rest of your week and thanks for stopping by!
