Translucent Flower Shop Book Marks

Tis’ the season to let in some light and get those flower beds ready! Hi everyone, it’s Maureen with you today. I’ve made some spring-themed bookmarks that will inspire you to head on over to your nearest flower shop. I love the way this project came together – it reminds me of looking in the windows of a local florist!

To start, I chose the Translucent Vellum card stock with a pearl-like texture. I cut 2.25″ by 11″ strips, then scored and folded them in half. I recommend using a scoring board for this so you get a nice clean line with no wrinkles.

I’ve also selected several small die cuts from my stash in assorted flower shapes along with a small butterfly. These will be your confetti pieces, so make sure they fit inside your bookmark. I’ve picked several bright colors just like a wildflower bouquet. I’m using Lessebo Sunflower Yellow, Amaranth Pink, DCS Granny Smith Green, DCS Aqua, Pop Tone Grapesicle and the non-textured side of DCS Pearlized Strawberry Cream Pink. Cut extra so you can use them as embellishments on your next project. It’s a great way to get rid of your scraps!

Fill the inside of your bookmark with a handful of these die cut pieces. I also added a couple small spoonfuls of glitter too. Fold the Translucent Vellum strip up and glue on the three open sides. Lay something heavy down on the bookmark while it dries.

From here, trim a few .25″ strips of assorted cardstock as the edges of your bookmark. Glue these to the front and back edges. Not only does this add color, but also covers the glue lines that may show through the vellum.

Next, I created a bookmark topper from a flower cart die cut that I had, trimming it down to size. I’ve cut this in Classic Crest Solar White and Lessebo Pitch Black card stock. Assemble this first, adhere it to the bookmark and then trim it down to size. If you don’t have a die cut like this, simply glue several .25″ black and white strips side by side on card stock and trim to size.

At the bottom of my bookmark, I’ve added a Classic Crest Solar White picket fence. Glue this to the bottom. Add any remaining flowers, as desired.

Your last step is to add ribbon to the top of your bookmark! I played around with the size of the hole – either a regular or rectangle hole punch will work. Hold this up to the light and admire your floral display!

Now, all you have left to do is take your favorite book and head over to a local cafe for some springtime reading. I welcome you to pin this idea to your Pinterest boards the next time you need a gift. Remember to join us on the Creating With CutCardStock Facebook group also for even more ideas for spring.
