Faux Embroidery DIY Holiday Ornament

With the holiday season approaching, I wanted to create a unique, handmade ornament. Hello, Mary here sharing a faux embroidered holiday ornament. This project combines high-quality card stock from CutCardStock and festive dies from Spellbinders.

Materials Used:

I chose the following shades from of card stock: Moss Green, Dawn, Scottish Highlands Green, Coffee Bean, Taupe, Cougar White 110#, Gold Metallic and Eris Metallic. This card stock cuts beautifully and holds up to provide crisp and neat die cuts.

From Spellbinders, I used: Gathering Stitches, Faux Embroidered Spruce and Make it Merry die sets. These dies all coordinate well together.

I started by die cutting all of the pieces. As a guide, I used the illustration on the Spellbinders Faux Embroidered Spruce packaging. ( this is an easy way to make sure you are putting the die cuts together properly)To make the ornament more stable, I die cut two of the “hardware” pieces and an additional circle for the backing (see photo above).

Next, I arranged and adhered all of the pieces using liquid glue. Then, the sentiment banner was added. Finally, I finished it off by tying a gold ribbon loop for easy hanging.

Creating this holiday ornament was a joy, and I am thrilled with how it turned out. It’s a perfect addition to my holiday decor and a wonderful gift idea for loved ones. I hope this inspires you to create a handmade ornament.
