My Favorite Story

Hello! Sharon here, I hope everyone was able to take advantage of the extra hour in bed this weekend. It always confuses the pets in our house!

My card today is a simple one. Do you know that CutCardStock sells letter press cardstock?

Yes, they have a number of different ones. For our card today we are going to be using Neenah 100% Cotton Cardstock in Pearl White. I will also be using Stardream Metallic Card in Rose Quartz.

Start by cutting the Neenah down to an A2 size. I do this by cutting a piece into quarters. That way I have 4 card fronts or can use a piece for embellishing my cards.

I am using the Spellbinders Better Press System and a couple of different plates. The first one is a great marbled effect that is great for backgrounds.

Line up the plate onto the press chase and your A2 Neenah cardstock needs adhering with low tack tape to the platen.

Now to ink the plate, my card has a pink theme so I have chosen a metallic rose gold ink. Make sure there is plenty of ink on the plate so you get a great impression.

You can see the shine this ink gives on this photo.

Now to build up your card. As always I am using Classic Crest Solar White 110lb for my A2 card base. I don’t like wide edged mats so I am trimming a piece of Rose quartz so it’s 1/8th inch smaller than my card base. Trim the marbled section so it is 1/4in smaller than the base; doing this just gives a fine border.

I glue all the layers using Tombow Mono Glue. Wet glue gives some wiggle room but if you prefer you can use tape.

My decor for the card base is also using press plates. This one has a gorgeous frame but we are only using the sentiment.

Press it onto the Neenah 100% cotton cardstock using black ink. It gives clean crisp lettering that has a good impression as you can see in this photo.

The Press set also comes with dies to cut the sentiment and I plate to mount it on. We are cutting the plate mount using the Rose Quartz cardstock.

Center the sentiment onto the mount and glue in place. I am then gluing these into the middle of my card.

The final step is to add some embellishments. These rose gold sequins are perfect for this.

Don’t you think this plate looks amazing? The 100% cotton cardstock presses beautifully and shows the design to it’s best potential.

Thank you for taking time to read my post – if you love what you see please let us know in the comments. Have I inspired you to try a new technique?
