“Howdy” From Texas Card

Howdy, y’all! Do you have friends or family that live in a different state or country? Of course you do! This is a great big world that we live in and we are scattered far and wide! While the internet has joined many people together who may have never met otherwise, it’s not great for personal connections. Obviously, we all need that little bit of “extra” acknowledgement that we mean more to our loved ones than a few words on a cold screen. That is where my project that I’m sharing with you today comes into play. Misty (@Mommyofkidz) here sharing a super simple card using just a few items from CutCardStock and your stash.

For my card, I have used red, white, and blue cardstock, which is ALL on sale this month! From the CutCardStock Store, I used Wild Blueberry, Stardream Metallic MARS and Stardream Metallic PLUTO cardstock for the Texas flag. Of course, I did use a Stardream Metallic 5×7 Gate Fold card base in Gold. In addition to these items, you will need a few things from your stash. However, you will not need a fancy cutting machine, die press, or mixed media applicators to complete this easy card! YAY! You’ll see all the items below that you will need to complete this super easy card or one like it.

Cut, Paste, DONE!

Once you’ve gathered your tools and cardstock, all you have to do is cut your panels for the flag. Then glue everything down and you’re done! That simple! However, I will share with you a few tips.

I chose the Gold Gatefold Card because I knew I’d be using a yellow rose from my stash to enhance my card theme. Anyone ever heard the song, “The Yellow Rose of Texas”? It is one of my Mom’s ALL TIME FAVORITES, and mine, too!

After securing the red and white panels in place, I used a DOUBLE layer of blue cardstock to reinforce for stability. Since it overhangs, I wanted it to be durable enough to withstand a plethora of openings. Finally, once it was all assembled, it did not want to stay closed. Therefore, I tossed in some red, white, and blue twine at the last minute. I secured it in place so that it would hold the flaps shut. However, I placed it in a way that it will slip off and on easily, so that it never has to be cut or untied.

Hey Y’all! Howdy from down here in Texas!

Bye for Now from Texas!

Now that your panels are all in place, it is time to add your roses. Well, I did use a die from my stash to TRACE a star onto my Stardream Metallic PLUTO cardstock. Finally, to finish it all off, I pulled out my white gel pen and blue Nuvo drops. These are a staple in my stash; hopefully you all have something similar! When it was all finished, I was super excited at the result and I can NOT WAIT to send it to my friend, Michelle, in Minnesota!

Thank you all for stopping by today, and I hope that I have inspired you to create something pretty!
Make sure to head over to the Monthly Specials before they end and pick up your cardstock! But, don’t worry, there will be something new on special next month!
