Scrapbooking the Cherry Blossoms

Is it starting to feel like Spring for you?  By the time March arrives here in the Pacific Northwest I am beyond ready for a break in the gray skies and rainy days.  It is usually about this time that the early spring flowers start blooming.  I am lucky to live in an area with a lot of flowering cherry trees, so the start of Spring for me is when the trees are filled with pretty pink blossoms.  So this is what I wanted to document on this page.

Getting Started

After deciding on my photographs I looked through my cardstock to decide what colors I wanted to use for this page. I love how these colors just screamed early spring to me and knew right away that these were the perfect colors to use on my page.

DCS Light Yellow cardstock

DCS Pearlized Textured Fruit Punch Pink cardstock

Stardream Metallic Quartz cardstock

Once the colors were selected I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out my cut file from the Stardream Metallic Quartz cardstock.  I used a cut file from Peartree Cutfiles for this page. The flowers reminded me of the Cherry blossoms and had the space for all three of my photos.

Once it was cut out of the Stardream Quartz cardstock, I then used the Light Yellow cardstock and the Pearlized Fruit Punch Pink cardstock to back the flowers.

Finishing the Page

Once I had my cut file finished, it was time for me to finish up my page. I started with the Blue Hydrangea cardstock for my background, especially since it reminded me of the bright blue sky in the photos.  I then layered a piece of patterned paper that pulled together all the colors of cardstock.  Since the patterned paper seemed too busy, I added another layer of the Stardream Quartz cardstock with ripped edges on the top and bottom.

To help my cut file pop off the background I added some distress oxide ink to the background along with some thread behind the flowers before using foam tape behind the cut file.  Finally I added my title, some journaling and some pink ink splatters to wrap it all up.
