I Pick You! Slimline Card

Have you been able to enjoy any flowers or spring weather yet this year? With March almost over, I sure hope you have! Due to being so busy at work, I have not had any time to enjoy the spring weather. Therefore, I am having to rely on my imagination and creativity to enjoy anything “spring” inspired! Hi y’all! Misty (@Mommyofkidz) here today sharing a super easy floral slimline card with a spring flair.
For this card, I knew that I wanted lots of 3-D flowers, so I grabbed my handy dandy flower punches and set to work. Since I wasn’t sure what color pallet I wanted, I just grabbed all my colors of Lessebo cardstock from the CutCardStock Store. I don’t have them all yet- but I am working on it! This cardstock is fantastic!

Making a Spring Garden…

After punching a plethora of pretty flowers, I sprayed them all with a bit of plain water. Consequently, doing this would allow me to easily squish them into a bunch a tiny paper wads. Now, I know you’re wondering if you read that correctly. The answer is YES. I got them all wet, wadded them all up (individually), and I allowed them to dry.
Once they were all dry, I started carefully UNwadding the tiny balls of paper being careful to not rip any of the petals. One by one, I opened the petals, and one by one, the flowers began to take shape. Next, I began layering the multiple pieces onto one another. By layering them and gluing them together, I was able to add substance to the dimensional flowers that I had created. Finally, I plopped some pearls into the centers and they were done. YAY! I love the way they turned out!
After much deliberation, I decided to narrow the colors down to the various Blues and Purples you see here, along with a bit of CTI Glama Natural Translucent (Vellum) CLEAR 48lb Cover 8.5×11 Card Stock.

Finishing it Up:

Finally, after all the flowers were assembled, it was time to bring the garden to life. I arranged the flowers into an oval, adding a butterfly and sentiment into the center. By using double sided foam tape, I was able to layer the sentiment pieces to make this card “POP”. Next, I tucked a few leaves here an there, then finished off with some splattering of white paint. Now, for the last 2 years, I have said over and over again that I am NOT in any way a card maker. While that still remains true today, I will admit, I have gotten a little better. The whole card making thing doesn’t intimidate me like it once did! Maybe it is the practice that is making me better, or maybe it is the AMAZING products that I get to use from CutCardStock. Quite possibly it is a mixture of both!
