Happy New Year Overlay

I had only one photo of New Year’s Eve 2022 and since I don’t normally do one photo layouts, I decided to create an overlay of the year 2022 that will work as a big embellishment & the title.

To create this, insert a square from basic shapes in Cricut Design Space and change the size to 11″ square. Next, scroll through the hundreds of font options to find one that you like. I decided on Eagle Bold because I wanted something different but not too fancy.

Once the font was determined, I created four different text boxes with each number. (In other words, three 2’s and one 0.) I played around with the size and placement within the square before attaching them. Normally when you want to remove something from a base, you would use the slice option. But when you slice, you can only slice one item from the base at a time. To save time, you can attach all the images together and you’ll get the same result in only one step.

Notice that the numbers are more to the left? I did that to allow more room on the right to add the photo and embellishments.

I used Black Licorice as the layout base and Cougar Smooth White for the overlay. Yes, I kept the color scheme pretty simple but don’t worry, I added lots of sparkle with other paper choices and embellishments.

CutCardStock Gold Glitter and Poison Ivory Curious Metallic cardstock were used behind two of the number openings and patterned paper scraps behind the other two. Once the photo was placed, I used other gold and glittery embellishments to glam up the layout. I even did some stamping!

This single photo layout is going to be perfect as the title page for my 2022 scrapbook.
