Scrapbook Layout Embellishments

Do you want a tip on putting a scrapbook album together easier? When you’re creating a single subject/occasion album, the best tip I can give is to create your embellishments and titles before putting the layouts together. Gather all these, along with all the other embellishments (such as washi tape, bling, ribbons, stickers, etc.) and papers then store them in one container. This saves so much time when you’re ready to get started since you don’t have to go searching all over your craft room.

Hi there, it’s Dorlene and I’ve been busy creating a wedding album for my nephew and his bride. I did exactly what I mentioned above. I gathered all the cardstock that coordinated with the wedding colors, searched for all the bling, gold washi, ribbons, wedding stickers I could find that also coordinated with the color scheme and wedding theme.

Once I did that, I searched wedding terms, flowers and flourishes in Cricut Design Space and then created embellishments and titles for these layouts in their wedding colors. I am so happy with the variety of colored and glitter cardstock available on the CutCardStock website and it made these pieces come together so well.

I used Wedding Cake White, Navy, Peach, Tangy Orange, Olive Green, Burgundy and Granny Smith Apple Green for these beautiful flower clusters and Gold Glitter cardstock to add some bling. The gold glitter paper is my favorite because it doesn’t leave a trail of glitter everywhere when using it. It cuts nicely with the Cricut and hand punches too. It’s thick so when cutting with the Cricut, before removing the mat, hit the cut button again so it cuts twice. When using a hand punch, it does take a little extra muscle, but not too bad – even this lady with the bad wrists could do it!

The small leaves and gold glitter flowers were cut with a hand punch.

Here are the completed layouts using the above clusters & titles.

I love, love, love how these layouts are turning out and having all the elements easily available helps so much! I hope you take my little tip and use it for your next single subject/occasion scrapbook album project!
