Fairy-Themed Birthday Shaker Card!

Hey everybody! Leslie here, sharing a super fun fairy-themed birthday shaker card with you today! Do any of you like to make shaker cards?! I love making them and get such a sense of pride and satisfaction when I finish one! The background was created with alcohol inks on Bright Silver Foil cardstock, and I die cut the fairy castle from the silver foil cardstock as well. I also used Mantis Green cardstock and Kale Green cardstock, which are new colors in my stash, that I think go really well with this inked background. 😉

Create Inked Background

I dropped Aqua, Sailboat Blue, Citrus and Lettuce alcohol inks along with alcohol blending solution onto a piece of Bright Silver Foil cardstock, and used an air blower to move it around the foil. Once dry, the panel was trimmed to fit the card front.

Cut Card Base and Layering Panels

I cut a standard A2 size top-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with a front layering panel and inside embellishing strip from Mantis Green cardstock.

Next, I cut another inside embellishing strip and die cut a fairy castle from Bright Silver Foil cardstock. Similarly, I cut an inside layering panel and die cut an oval frame from Kale Green cardstock.

Finally, I cut an inside layering panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock.

Create Aperture and Adhere Acetate

An oval aperture was die cut into the inked background and a piece of dark green craft foam. I adhered a piece of acetate behind the aperture and then adhered the craft foam.

Adhere Layers and Add Shaker Bits

I adhered the Kale Green oval frame to the front of the inked background, added a small helping of shaker bits to the Mantis Green cardstock panel and adhered them together, trapping the confetti inside.

Next, the embellishing strips were adhered to the white inside panel which was adhered to the Kale Green panel.

Add Stamping

I stamped the front and inside sentiments in light and dark green inks.

Assemble and Complete Card

I adhered the front and inside panels to the card base. The final step was adding small turquoise gemstones to the silver foil fairy castle and adhering it to the acetate.
