Daisy Birthday Cascade Card
Have you ever experienced someone being super impressed at something you made, but secretly you knew it wasn’t all that hard? Today’s cascade card is that kind of project.
How about a pretty cascade card with beautiful creamy white cardstock and all the trimmings? It screams elaborate, but the beauty is that this card isn’t hard, thanks to a cutting pattern from Dreaming Tree. Yes, this is an .svg cutting file that makes this card quick to make.
This is a Cascade Card, and it’s made with two spectacular cardstocks from CutCardStock – Curious Metallic Cryogen White and Curious Metallic Champagne. Both of these cardstocks cut on electronic cutting machines so easily. Not only that, they also cut crisp and clean but also emboss well well. Curious Metallics have a sparkling surface and luminescent sheen of machined metal on both sides. There are many color options in this line, and you will want to check this cardstock out for yourself. Parts of the Cascade Card
Let’s look at some of the pieces in this pattern. Below is one of the two diagonal pieces you need for the card. There are also four small panels that are just right to emboss and glue to the diagonal pieces.
The diagonal pieces fold in accordion style, and the embossed panels are places on the top sections. Below, you can see what they look like once folded (but before the final two embossed panels are glued in place).
The next step is to combine the two folded diagonals to form this card style’s cascade feature. The slits in the diagonal pieces allow you to marry the two pieces together, as shown below.
I cut out the layered daisies, leaves, and sentiment block in additional Cryogen White and Champagne. After layering all the images together, attach them to the card front. The middle flower at the top and the sentiment block is attached with foam tape. The other flowers are glued directly to the card.
Decorating the Card
To decorate this card, cut slits into the top to thread through a 5/8″ ribbon from the back to the front on each side. I chose a white ribbon with gold polka dots. Then when the ribbon gets to the front, you can arrange it to frame the sentiment block. I used glue dots to keep the ribbon in place and trimmed the ribbon ends into flags.
I stamped the sentiment and applied gold embossing powder. Then, I added a few single pearls and gold glitter enamel dots to finish this card.
