Happy New Year y’all!!! It is Laura from Soul Shine Designs. I hope all of y’all had wonderful holidays. I’m hoping that this year will be better than last. Even though 2021 is not starting off on a good foot, just try to remain positive that it will get better. So with that being said, I have an adorable Valentine’s Day cat card for y’all today. I recently purchased this adorable stamp set by Simon Says Stamp. It’s called Pawsome Love. I, of course, used the kitty stamp for this card. I also use Astrobright Solar Yellow cardstock and washi tape from stash.
First, I stamped the images twice, along with the hearts. I always stamp at least twice so I can try out the coloring and how I like it. I used colored pencils for my chosen medium. By all means, use whatever coloring medium you like. Make sure you use the correct ink, though.
I fussy cut the big heart with the kitty and three smaller hearts. I cut a panel of the Astrobright Solar Yellow cardstock to 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″. Then, I traced the panel on the card base to add the black and white washi tape to make a frame. I wanted to bring in more of the black since the image was stamped in black.
Next, I added foam tape behind the yellow panel and adhered to the frame. I used some adhesive behind the big heart and placed it in the bottom right, having it overhang, but not over the frame.
Of course, I got black ink on the yellow panel. No fear! I used my sand eraser to lightly erase away the ink. After I erased the ink, I used a colorless blender pencil to smooth out the erased part. Actually, I learned that from a TikTok video!
I stamped the sentiment above the kitty image. After that, I adhered three smaller hearts that I colored the same pink colors of the big heart and placed them around the image. I used my Wink of Stella glitter brush pen to add glitter to the smaller hearts and the kitty image’s background.
And that concludes this easy Valentine’s Day cat card. If you like this card, make sure you leave a comment below and on my Instagram.
