Flowers for Grandmas

Today I’m using Cut Cardstock’s Pop-Tone papers to create some lovely 3D flowers to grace the table where two of my daughter’s Great Grandmas eat dinner at. Both lovely ladies live at the same Assisted Living Center and eat at the same table. My daughter spends a good deal of time visiting them, as such we’ve come to know and love some of their friends, including their other table mates! I thought that creating a paper bouquet of flowers would be a lovely gesture to brighten their days a little.

I started by finding an SVG file on the Brother Scan n Cut website. The file I chose actually contained these two different flowers, the stems, and the leaves. I cut out the flowers using CCS Pop-Tone Razzleberry and CCS Pop-Tone Grapesicle; the leaves and the stems were cut out using CCS Pop-Tone Limeade.

To add texture and depth to the papers, I relied heavily on some Altenew Dye ink before I shaped my flowers. Shaping them was EASY. Not only was there a good description of how to do this, but I have a scientific glass stirring rod that makes the project super easy. If you don’t have such a rod, a round pen will work just as well.

The centers of my pink flowers started with Basis White cardstock that I then changed color by using more Altenew inks. To add detail and interest, I also used Nuvo Crystal Drops in Dandelion and Ripened Pumpkin. The very centers of the flowers got some gems by Pretty Pink Posh in Marigold.

Once I had built my flowers, I wanted them to shine, I was not going for realism here. As I do with most things, I sprayed them with some Lindy’s Magical Starburst Sprays. This was especially helpful on my purple flowers, these flowers lost some of the ink texture I added when they were constructed; adding sprays gave them some more interest.

I decided that my bouquet of flowers needed a focal point, which is where my sign came in. I have this older MFT stamp set that I love! I stamped it on some of the CCS Pop-Tone Grapesicle and dusted the edges with my purple ink. I used CCS Medium Purple for the ornate frame of the sign and added a touch of magic by using Rita Barakat’s Magical Mysteries Embossing Powder!

This embossing powder is AMAZING, and you can do so much with both texture and color by mixing and matching as you see fit.
