Skater Birthday

Masculine birthday cards are fun for me because I get to break out of my usual florals and pastels and try something a little edgier.  For today’s card, I’m using CutCardstock’s Basis Card Stock in black along with some fun background stamps for that skater dude in your life.

When heat embossing on dark card stock, you want to be sure to prep the surface first with a powder bag to be sure the embossing powder doesn’t stray outside of the stamped image.  

I used a background stamp from Stampers Anonymous called Bitty Grunge.  It has some really fun background spots, so I decided to try two different ones to go along with my skateboards.  These cards came together super quickly.  I just stamped my images on the black panel trimmed just under A2 size and then popped it up with foam tape on to a folded A2 Cougar white notecard. 

I love how the white embossing powder pops against the black card stock!  Be sure to head over to the CutCardstock shop for the sale on Basis Cardstock.  There are so many colors to choose from.  You’ll need them all!
