Vellum Valentine

Happy Valentine’s Day!  

For today’s project, I was excited to break out my new Hearts Entwined stamp from My Favorite Things and try a clean and simple card.  I love the look of bright colors against dark gray, so the backdrop for my project is a notecard I made using Classic Crest card stock in Pewter.  This is a great, basic dark gray that is my new favorite neutral.

I first wanted to create a white stamped background, so using my Misti, I stamped my hearts twice on the front of my note card.  I used a strip of Post-It Tape to mask off the back of my card while stamping.

Afterward, I heat embossed the hearts using white embossing powder.

Next, I stamped the hearts on some thin vellum using Versafine Onyx Black ink, then heat embossed those using clear embossing powder.  You’ll want to use a thinner vellum, like CTI Glama Natural Transluscent Vellum.  This will allow the Copic coloring to show through better.  

I flipped the vellum over and colored each heart using a variety of the Fluorescent Copic marker colors.  These look super bright, but on vellum, they’re just right.

After trimming out my stamped hearts, I wanted to pop them up really high, so I used some 3D glue dots.  They come flatter, but I rolled them up a little so they would stand higher.  

I added the heart panel over the white hearts along with a heat embossed sentiment above. 

I love those bright hearts against the gray!
