Welcome welcome! It’s a great day here are CutCardStock.com. We are celebrating all things gold, orange and brown as the fall season is upon us. I made up a little gift here for my mother. Shhhh, don’t tell! I live far away from her and wanted to send her a lovely thank you gift as this special season comes. I made up a wreath for her door accompanied with a lovely handmade card.
I started by gathering the colours I wanted. I used some Curious Metallic brown for pinecones. Basis dark orange, Flavours Gourmet brown, mustard and olive for leaves. Vellum for beautiful swirls, and a lovely Stardream Metallic Antique Gold for added sparkle. I die cut more than enough to make up what I wanted. First tip #1: when it comes to making up your own holiday wreath, make sure you die cut WAY MORE items then you think you need! It’s so much easier in the end.
Also, you might be asking yourself what is the difference between Stardream Metallic and Curious Metallic? Well, mostly the Stardream is much more shimmery. Like the whole paper is shining bright. Curious Metallic is shimmery but not as bright. Just more like flecks throughout the paper. They are both beautiful! If you want something striking, go with the Stardream. Something more subtle but pretty go with the Curious. Personally I love them both and use them both a lot! And don’t forget all orange, brown and gold card stock is NOW ON SALE!
So I started with the die cut flourishes and hot glued them down where I wanted them. Tip #2… ALWAYS use hot glue when making a wreath. So much faster and easier.
Ok, another little tip… #3: when I want to add some dimension to the items I’m glueing on, I start by pulling a dollop of glue on the back and letting it cool. Then I add more glue to adhere it. It gives it an automatic bump or dimension to work with. Kind of like a dimensional foam adhesive. It works great.
Ok, so I just laid things out and figured out where I wanted to glue them. For the final touch I made up a bow for the top. I looped this ribbon twice around and left the tails hanging out.
I wrapped it with wire and made it nice and tight.
Then I took another strip of ribbon and tied it in a knot in the back over the wire.
Then wrapped it to the top of the wreath with the wire.
Because I was so zealous with the die cutting at the beginning of the project, I had some left over leaves and bits that I could make a card with. I love that! I started by layering them using some foam adhesive.
I stamped the sentiment in the corner with black and a lovely yellow swirl underneath.
So now its just a matter of packing it up with some tissue paper in a box and mailing it out to my mom. A nice little gift to share my gratitude for her in my life and festive decor for her to celebrate this coming fall season. Thanks to CutCardStock.com, gift giving just got a lot more beautiful!
Thanks for joining me today. I hope you enjoyed it! I know I did. Happy crafting this week!
