Hi everyone! We are in early December — in full holiday swing. We hope you enjoyed our Holiday Countdown series, and will continue to enjoy our projects this month! I’m happy to share a card with you today that I made based on lots of inspiration from other card makers using Distress inks for backgrounds.
I started with a pre-cut A2 card front of Neenah Solar white. I taped it down to my craft sheet with a little post-it tape so it would stay put. With three colors of distress ink, I created the background by swirling on the ink using the mini blending tool.
To add some more interest to the background, I splattered some white distress paint by tapping my little paint brush on my hand. That motion flung the paint across my card, and all over my workspace, but luckily it cleans up really easily. After it was dry, I cut down my inked sky just a bit.
I knew I wanted to include a sentiment die cut from Stardream Metallic Silver cardstock (It’s on sale this month!). I also wanted to add a few snowflakes just to fill in that wide open space. I decided on my layout by getting all the stamps positioned on my stamp press. Then I inked them up with Versamark and heat embossed them with white embossing powder.
My son leaves tonight to head back to school to start his Junior year! It seems like we just dropped him off as a college freshman and now all of a sudden he’s at the halfway mark of his undergrad career. Naturally being a cardmaker, I wanted to send him off with a card!I gathered…
Hydrangeas in Cape CodThese lovely hydrangeas, growing in nearly every garden on Cape Cod, are my inspiration for today’s project.Keeping with the red, white and blue theme this month, I chose to use the softer, more feminine, side of these colors. This project is the perfect little gift to bring a hostess, or slip a…
So… you have to make a card for a guy, but you don’t have any boyish stamps sets. Sound familiar? As the proud owner of a stamp collection that is about 80% floral designs, I feel you. What if I told you cards for men don’t need to be all about tools, grills, and cars?As long…

What goes better than black and red?! Other than shiny red foil and sparkly black glitter paper of course. Black makes a good frame for a shadowbox.
