Gift Card Ornaments

I am one who doesn’t like to shop so I am a big fan of gift cards. I made some gift card ornaments for you to check out today and I hope you will like them! They are so quick and easy to make! You can hang them on your Christmas tree, use them around the neck of a wine bottle , or just to decorate a package. If you don’t give gift cards, you can use these for little folded notes.
Hopefully in some of the pictures you will be able to detect the sparkle on the absolutely lovely papers I have used. This month the DT has been asked to use red/green/white CS and I think the most beautiful and festive are from the Stardream Metallic Collection at the CutCardStock shop. For my project I have used Stardream Metallic Jupiter, Stardream Metallic Emerald, and Stardream Metallic Crystal. For all of the little scenes, I used scraps of the same and some bits and pieces from my scrap bag. The gold touches are Bright Foil.
Of course you can make these envelopes any size you wish but I am going to share with you the measurements I used. I first cut a 5″ square of CS and to make the project go quick as a wink I used the WeR Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board. I lined up the CS ro the 2 5/8″ mark and made my first punch and first score. (I have marked the score lines with a Sharpie so you could follow me along easier).
Next I turned the piece of CS 90 degrees counterclockwise, lined up the point and first score line, and punched and scored again.
Turn the CS one more time, again counterclockwise and 90 degrees, and lined up the point and the second score line. Again, punch and score.
Turn the CS for the last time and just punch…DO NOT SCORE!
Round the corners of the top of the envelope (the unscored one) and the opposite corner which will be the bottom flap of the envelope. Also use a bone folder to make the score lines crisp.
Bring the two sharp; points together and adhere.
Bring the rounded bottom flap up and adhere.
Now you are ready to make a hole in the top flap for hanging and decorate to your heart’s desire. I used some gold stretchy cord but you could just as easily use twine or narrow ribbon. I mostly used the Impression Obsession Christmas Icons dies but I’m sure you have so many ideas for decorating your ornaments!!!

WOUW Jacque, these little gifttagholders are soo gorgeous. We also use gift tags more and more, as it´s almost impossible to get anything for anybody these days, that they don´t already have, so I too think, this is such an awesome solution too, and use it a lot. And I absolutely love the little scenes, you´ve created for these, sooo lovely.

Love this idea! Would use it as simple tags too, so that the card inside says the \”to/from\” without writing it directly on the decorated tag!

I've been looking at all the ideas, but until a couple days ago still had no idea if I'd use any of the tag related ideas. Sunday I put up my Christmas tree, very early. There are no decorations as I wondered if my new litter of kittens would leave it standing! After looking at these tags again I know how I will now decorate the tree! Thanks for such a cute idea!
