Patriotic Paper Candle Wrapper
Fourth of July is fast approaching. Our city doesn’t allow fireworks but we are lucky to usually get a glimpse from our house of some of the professional shows. We turn out the lights , light some candles and hope for a clear night! I made this candle to represent the fireworks we don’t actually get to set off.
I used Malmero Perle Sparkle Red, Neenah Ivory, and Stardream Metallic Sapphire card stocks for this project. You’ll also need a glass candle which you can find at the dollar store or grocery store.
I measured the cream cardstock to fit around my candle, and tore the top and bottom edges using a metal ruler. Sponged on some embossing ink and then embossed with a bright gold embossing powder.
I adhered this to the candle with very strong tape. I also embossed the rim of the candle. To make my stripes, I trimmed the Sparkle Red paper to the same height, then tore strips of it again using the metal ruler.
I lean towards a vintage Americana style for patriotic decor so the more rustic and aged, the better. I crumpled up my strips and then using a new product that Cut Cardstock has recently started carrying, the Tombow dot pattern adhesive runner, attached my “stripes” to my candle.
I tore a strip of the sapphire paper to fit around the candle and attached using the Tombow adhesive. I knew I wanted a focal for the candle and remembered some cupcake liners I had left over from Christmas. Nothing is safe in my house! I folder the cupcake liners in quarters and attached to a 2 inch circle I punched from the sapphire cardstock. To finish, I punched some stars from gold mirror cardstock.
It reminds me of a firecracker.
