Slightly Spooky Slimline Card

Hi friends, Karen here with you today. If you’re a fan of Halloween, this may be a card you’ll enjoy. This slightly spooky slimline card came together quickly and easily using just a few of the many wonderful cardstocks you’ll find at CutCardStock.

Getting Started

After deciding what type of card you’d like to create, just head over to CutCardStock to pick up the cardstock colors you’ll need. For this slightly spooky slimline card, I chose to use Astrobright Black 80 lb. Cardstock, Lessebo Premium White, Astrobright Orange and Pop Tone Grapesicle Cardstock. Once I’d gathered all my cardstock color choices, I picked out the die-cuts I wanted to use for this slightly spooky slimline.

As you can see, things are still pretty basic. Because I was trying to achieve that “spooky” look, applying some ink to these die-cut pieces gave them some dimension and mystery. Simply cut your pieces and use an inking brush to apply ink to all the pieces of die-cut cardstock. This is such an easy technique, but it adds so much great color to your cards. In the photo below, you’ll really see the big difference that some simple inking can add to a project. Is it slightly spooky yet?

Additional Steps

Once everything is cut, inked and glued to the base, you can really get creative with your cards. The small pumpkins were cut from the Astrobright Orange and the crows were all cut from Astrobright Black 80 lb. Cardstock. The images look so nice against the pretty Pop Tone Grapesicle Cardstock. There was also a bit of stamping done on this card to add the little sentiments and other images. The beautiful cardstock colors are the real star of this slightly spooky slimline.
