Ostrich Fun Fold

Hi friends – happy Wednesday! I hope you’re having a great week! If you are a fan of fun folds, I have an easy and fun card to share with you. Leslie here with a simple pillar card that sure packs a punch. If you’ve never attempted a fun fold, I highly recommend this one. It features 110# and 80# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White along with Lessebo Sunset Orange. I’ve tailored this ostrich fun fold for a guy friend but it could be used for literally any occasion or holiday.

Cut Card Base & Layers

Begin by cutting a 5-1/2″ x 10-1/4″ card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock. Score it at 4-1/4″, 5-1/4″, 7-1/4″ and 8-1/4″, fold on the score lines and burnish with a bone folder.

Next, cut a patterned paper panel at 1-3/4″ x 5-1/4″.

Additionally, cut a sentiment panel at 1-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock. Similarly, cut a layering panel at 2-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ from Lessebo Sunset Orange.

Form Pillar

Apply adhesive to the left-most section of the card base. Fold on the score lines (all mountain folds) to form a rectangular pillar.

Tuck the outer edge of the section with the adhesive into the right-most score line crease and press to adhere. Push the pillar over toward the left and press it flat to work the fibers. As with all fun folds, it’s best to push in both directions to ensure that the card will fold flat for mailing.

Adhere Layers

Glue the patterned paper panel to the pillar on the left side. You could put the pillar on the right side if you want. Now adhere the white sentiment layer to the sunset orange layer.

Create the Focal Image

Stamp, color and die cut the focal image.

Add Sentiments

Press the card flat and adhere the focal image. Stamp the front sentiment in black ink above the focal image. Afterwards, stamp an additional sentiment on the white panel and adhere it to the card base.

Complete Ostrich Fun Fold

Employ the ‘Wear Your Adhesive On The Outside’ technique by applying metallic foil to several adhesive circles. Affix the circles in random spots. These make great shiny embellishments for your projects!
