If you’re anything like me, you can’t bear to throw away leftover scraps of cardstock. Today, I’m sharing how I turn those bits and pieces into cute, functional tags. Hi I’m Maureen (A Little Mo Crafty) and these are perfect for gifts – adding a handmade touch to projects. Using scraps of cardstock from CutCardStock, paired with patterned paper from my stash, I’ll show you just how far your supplies can go!
First, start with a selection of cardstock colors you have leftover. In this post I’m using Lessebo Sunset Orange, Lessebo Splash Blue, Lessebo Cherry Red and Lessebo Sunflower Yellow. I’ve cut these down to 2.5″ by 4″ in size. I’ve coordinated these with leftover patterned paper I have that I can’t seem to part with! These are cut at 2.25″ by 4″.
Next, take a tag topper punch and trim off the top of your cardstock. Additionally, with leftover pieces, cut small circle rings to use as added reinforcement at the top. Round the corners of each tag.
Now make the same cuts with the patterned paper at the top of the tag. In addition, I cut the ends off with another flag punch.
It’s time to adhere the circle rings to the tops of your patterned paper tags. Since these are small pieces, I use a tweezers to apply them.
Next, pull some twine through the tops of both tags, placing the patterned piece on top of the colored cardstock. I used a white twine to coordinate with all of them.
If you have a favorite sentiment set in matching fonts, now is the time to use them! I chose several sayings so that I can come back to this stash of tags when I need a birthday or thank you one. If you sell your products, these are great to attach to customer purchases also!
Finally, stamp the sentiments at the bottom of the cardstock tags. With a variety of colors, black ink works best for me. Now you are ready for the next gift-giving event!
Don’t let those cardstock scraps pile up—turn them into something beautiful and useful!
