Shhhhhh!? Do you hear that? Yes…it is silent! We all know that coffee pairs nicely with silence, right! Ha ha!
How many coffee drinkers do we have joining us today? Whether you drink coffee or not, you are sure to enjoy the project I’m sharing! Hi y’all! Misty here, and while I’m not really much of a coffee drinker, my daughter most definitely is. Not only does she drink coffee- she NEEDS it in order to resemble a functional human in the mornings. Knowing this about her, I knew I had to make this little sign for her desk at work! It is a “warning sign” of sorts for her co-workers!
To begin, I gathered up my cardstock that I would use from the CutCardStock Store. I chose Lessebo Coffee Bean for the font color on the sign, with Cougar White heavy 160 lb. as the base. With my handy dandy Cricut machine, I was able to cut this cute little saying out with ease. The Cougar White was cut down to a 6×6 square and the words fit perfectly onto it. However, once I began assembling it, I realized that it just didn’t “POP” enough. Therefore, I double matted the white onto another heavy cardstock base, making the sign 8×8 once it was complete. I chose Stardream Metallic Saturn for the backing of the sign, and it even added a bit of sparkle!
More is More!
I could have absolutely called it quits with the sign, but that just isn’t who I am! Once the sign was complete, I made a little coffee bean shaker element to go along with it. Beginning with Lessebo Premium Taupe, I used my Cricut to cut the word “SHHH” so that it would fit into a 3″ inch” circle. Using the Cougar White heavy 160 lb again, I made the 3″ circular base for my patterned paper to mount on. Using a white gel pen, I outlined the lettering then began assembling the shaker base. After adding in the shaker elements, I slapped on a 3″ circle of acetate, and then ring on top of that cut with Stardream Metallic ONYX. To finish off the shaker, Lessebo Sunflower Yellow was the perfect splash of color!
Now, I know what you are wondering…Where in the world did I find these cute little coffee beans!! While I was at a Scrapbooking convention last year, I came across these shaker elements and I loaded up. I didn’t yet know what I would do with them, but I had to have them. They were just the cutest things, and they are a PERFECT match for the Array of Beautiful Brown Cardstock that is in the CutCardStock Store! These beans have been waiting patiently in my stash for the right project to come along…it was simply meant to be. For the final piece to my project, I wrapped a piece of corrugated cardboard around the envelope and glued the shaker to that.
Stop and Smell the Coffee
While these shaker beans don’t actually have a scent, they LOOK amazing! The Leader White 8 inch square Envelopes were the perfect choice for protecting the sign that I had made. I was super excited when I slipped the “Coffee Sleeve” onto my envelope. It made the cutest wrapping for this little gift that I made for my daughter’s desk. If I have inspired you today, head on over to the CutCardStock Store and start shopping for the perfect pair to your next DIY project!
