Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it, so I decided to play around today with a card design.
I’m actually teaching a brush lettering class in early February where we will make a card, so I wanted to come up with something that was relatively simple for anyone to make!
I started with a smooth A7 folded card, in Cougar White 80# stock. I prefer to sketch out my designs beforehand, so I marked the center lines both horizontally and vertically, then drew in the lettering.
After the sketch was complete, I went back in and lightly erased the lines so that they were just barely visible.
For my lettering tools today, I chose to use my favorite Micron Pen .05, but I decided to try something new and different for the red ink! So, I tested out the Zig Clean Color Brush Markers.
Wow! This was a nice change of pace from the usual markers I use. It was almost like painting the ink onto the page – the brush was extremely flexible and fine. I could touch up the tiniest details with the tip. Super fun! I could also get some fun shapes and textures with the details I added into the card.
After the lettering was inked in, I went back in again with the eraser to remove any remaining pencil lines. Then I added in the fun details – hearts, stippling, and of course, dots!
And there you have it! A fun card to send to a loved one… Now I just have to decide who will be the lucky recipient! 😉
‘Tis the season to start cracking down on the Christmas crafts! Today I have a little Christmas set for you, using CutCardStock’s Red Pepper, Dark Red, Solar White, and green papers. For detailing, I used the Craftwell eBrush and green/red Sharpie markers I used my quilling tool to shape the leaves and petals to the…
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a love of books and even dreamed of having one of those giant libraries with the sliding ladders in my house when I grew up. Although my kids are still young, I hope to pass the love of books onto them too. And with them,…
When you have nice paper to work with, such as Cut Card Stock’s Basis and Metallics, simple designs will shine. Making a quick set of cards is no problem at all. I created this small set in less than an hour (most of the time took for me to choose the colors and patterned paper)….
Every once in a while we have a project that’s too good to only share just once! Today we are revisiting some envelope art created by the super talented Annie… If your dad is anything like mine, he’s happy with a card made of printer paper and a handwritten sentiment…but that doesn’t mean you can’t…
Hello all my crafty friends! How was your National Scrapbooking Day celebration last Saturday? I hope it was fantastic! I’m here to share a Mother’s day card I created with you today. This time instead of using a cut file (which I usually do) I use a die instead, I love the flexibility of the…
Who doesn’t love a sweet treat? I’m back today with a tutorial on how to make a ‘thank you’ treat box. I think this is a cute way to show gratitude to someone you love or use it as a party favor box for any occasion. I love the gold foil cardstock by CutCardStock, it’s…
