To start, I trimmed squares of the cardstock with the measurements listed above. When I create cards, I start with one idea but usually end up venturing off in a different direction. My plan was to stack the squares up with embossing and a sentiment on top, but, as you’ll see, I changed my design a bit.
For my top panel, I used a stencil over the top of the silver piece and applied Versamark ink over the top. This stencil is actually a summer-themed stencil, but I think the design could also pass for snowflakes.
I love getting more mileage out of my products this way. If you add embellishments or sentiments that also fit the theme you’re going for, it completely works, I think.
After I added the Versamark, I heat embossed the design with bright white embossing powder. This looks beautiful with the silver shimmer peeking through.
Instead of stacking the squares, I adhered them at angles to the front of a notecard I created from Stardream Metallic Silver.
I added the embossed piece on top positioned straight with the notecard.
I added a sentiment I heat embossed using Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear embossing powder onto a strip of Curious Translucent Clear Vellum card stock. This is a heavier weight vellum and I love it because you can easily heat emboss on it without warping and you can put adhesive behind it with it barely showing through. In this case, I used clear pop dots to raise up the strip a little.
This card is full of shimmer with the vellum piece adding a little bit of airy elegance.
