Another Look: Simple His and Hers Birthday Cards

I always seem to be in need of last minute birthday cards, so when I settle on a simple design, I like to make several to have on hand.  This time, I thought it’d be fun to make a masculine and feminine version of the same card design with the same supplies – white cardstock, ink, a confetti stencil, and a die-cut sentiment.

Start by trimming a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White in half and scoring both panels in the center to form two top-folding A2-sized card bases.  Then, trim two card fronts sized at 4″ x 5.25″ out of the same cardstock.

Apply a gradient of Distress Oxide Inks over each card front panel with a foam blending tool.  For the feminine card, I chose pink, purple, and black ink, while for the masculine version I chose greens and blues.

Place a confetti stencil over the blue and green panel and dab through the openings with a wet baby wipe to activate the ink and create an “oxidized” pattern.  Then, place the same stencil over the pink panel and apply white glitter paste with a spatula to create a raised glitter confetti pattern.

Die cut a circlular sentiment out of the center of the blue and green panel and save both the sentiment and the panel.

Secure the circle back in the panel by placing small foam tabs around the border at regular intervals, lying halfway on the background panel and halfway on the sentiment.  I also turned the die-cut upside-down so that the border contrasted with the background, adding emphasis to the sentiment.

For the feminine card, die-cut several layers of a script sentiment from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White.

Adhere the layers together with liquid glue and then add shimmer all over the thick, dimensional die-cut to coordinate with the glittery background.

Simply adhere the blue and green panel to the white cardbase with additional foam tabs to finish the masculine birthday card.  For the feminine card, first adhere the background to the cardbase with tape runner and then add the shimmery sentiment on top with strong liquid glue.

I hope you enjoyed these simple his and hers birthday cards and thanks so much for stopping by today!  Be sure to visit the CutCardStock Store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that white and ivory cardstocks are on sale this month!
