So Mother’s Day just ended and we’re moving onto Father’s Day cards and gifts, right? Growing up, my family did not celebrate father’s day or mother’s day. Our parents do so much for us that it wouldn’t seem far-fetched to believe every day is mother’s and father’s day. My parents in particular sacrificed a lot for us moving to this country when we were kids. Also, this is the first year that my husband and I are parents and welcomed a baby girl into our world two months ago. I created two cards for you today – one for my father and one for my husband.
I started by stamping the bears with Copic-friendly black ink and die-cutting the doodle dot cover panel using Grey Basis Card Stock. I also heat-embossed some sentiments onto Black Basis Cardstock.
What an adorable set of bears! I colored them with Copic markers and then die-cut a frame with Black Basis Cardstock. I trimmed down the panel with the bears so it would fit directly behind the frame. For the base, I stamped a woodgrained stamp in a very light gray ink. I mounted the bear panel with foam tape and then mounted the black frame with black foam tape. I added the frame string over it with glue.
Finally, I stamped the sentiments with black ink. This card is perfect for my husband for all that he does for our daughter!
The next card is for my father and for all that he’s done and continues to do for me. He adores my daughter the most amongst all his grandchildren (at least he says he does! :))
I cut the Black Basis Cardstock down to 4.25″ x 11″ and folded it halfway to form an A2 base. I mounted the die-cut frame on top with foam tape for dimension. All the embossed sentiments were trimmed down and mounted over the front with foam tape. I don’t make too many masculine cards so I wanted to keep this very simple. My father is not into colored images so this card did not need anything else.
