It’s the beginning of a new school year for my teacher friends…a time filled with lots of new faces to learn and classrooms to decorate. To help them get started, I made each of them a little class photo apple tree for their desk – complete with enough materials to add all of their good apples to the branches.
Start by die-cutting your tree (about 7″ tall) from some Gmund Tindalo Kraft Woodgrain Cardstock. I used my Silhouette to cut each set of tree parts, but you can use a manual die-cutting machine and a large tree die if needed. (Just cut a slit up the trunk halfway on one and down the trunk from the top on the other to interlock and create a 3D tree.)
Punch or die-cut enough small apples (about 1.5″ in diameter) from Wild Cherry Pop Tone Cardstock to accomodate the size of the teacher’s class. Punch a small hole in the top of each apple and thread some thin natural twine through it to create about a one inch long hanger.
The teacher can then use a one-inch punch to add photos of each of their students to the front of the apple and their name on the back. They can either use the tree to display all of their students or use it as a way to reward a few “good apples” each week!
To create the chalkboard easel, start by trimming a piece of Gmund Tindalo Kraft Brown Cardstock to 3.25″ x 11″, scoring and folding at 5.5″. Then, using a large rectangular shape punch like the one above, partially punch the open end of the easel to create four legs.
