Hoop Art with Linda McClain

Hey everyone. It’s me again and I’m crazy excited to share this home decor idea with you. I discovered a hot new trend at the Indie craft fairs in Chicago and Austin this past year: framing with embroidery hoops! Just Google Hoop Art or search on hoop art in Pinterest and you’ll see what I mean.

I love that this vintage art form is coming back. Back about a squillion years ago (in the 70’s and 80s) we created wall art by framing our needlework with embroidery hoops – proving once again that I am vintage – but not antique! It’s just a fun and inexpensive way to show off your creations.

Hoop art doesn’t just have to be made with fabric. If you like making cards, I’m going to show you how you can modify a card design to create fun home decor. Your friends will think you’re a genius.

You’ll need:

Now you have this fabulous canvas to stamp on, embellish, and even hand sew onto.  Have fun!

Here are the stars of the show: translucent vellum to create the jar, these crazy-fun pieces from the Brown Bag collection and yummy Nutmeg colored cardstock. Nutmeg is from the Flavours Gourmet collection. Oh goodness gracious, these colors are delicious. I guess that’s why they’re called Flavours Gourmet. And, they’re on sale at 10% off. If you can’t decide which color to get, follow my plan: get them all with the Sample Pack.
