Hello, everyone! Any bakers out there? Toni here and I discovered long ago that I am not meant to decorate cakes or cookies. Simply put, I don’t have the patience for all that detail work. Yet, here I am making fussy baking themed friendship card! LOL.
That said, let’s jump right in to talk about my baking card that involved no actual baking, just like I prefer.
The Background
My first step was to spritz a touch of water on a panel of Cougar White cardstock. As a result, the cardstock becomes sufficiently damp to allow it to take the impression of the 3D embossing folder beautifully. Fortunately, I have never had the Cougar White crack but that can happen with thicker paper, especially if dry.
The baking diecuts
For the baking implements themselves, I chose to go with a soft Lessebo Blossom Pink cardstock and kraft (DCS Discount Sand Castle Tan) palette. As accents, I used Bright Foil Silver cardstock with just a touch of DCS Discount Smooth Putty cardstock on the mixer.
Furthermore, I sponged a bit of brown ink on the kraft to deepen the color a bit. Indeed I had created scorch marks to match my own oven mitts!
The sentiment
With the chosen palette in mind, I stamped and embossed the sentiment in white on a scrap of Lessebo Blossom Pink cardstock. Do you use anti-static powder when you emboss? Occasionally, I will. You know, when I happen to remember to do it.
Now one thing I never forget is using tape to hold the outline die in place while cutting. Admittedly, I’m just not that person who can achieve an even border without doing that. In fact, I do this even though I have a magnetic plate!
