Hello, creative friends and thanks for stopping by the CutCardStock Blog today. I’m sharing a FUN layered cardstock birthday card today that showcases several of our beautiful colors of cardstock. It’s always assuring to know that CutCardStock will always have the perfect colors of cardstock for every card or project we can imagine. This is what I came up with when designing my layered cardstock birthday card.
Selecting Cardstock Colors
Before I get started on any project, I like to pull out the papers I’ll be using. In this case, I chose the following CutCardStock colors for this card:
DSC Plum Cardstock, DSC Grapesicle Cardstock, DSC Raspberry Ice Cardstock, Pop Tone Pink Lemonade Cardstock, Pop Tone Snowcone Blue Cardstock, Lessebo Colors Premium Salt Water Blue Cardstock, Astrobright Solar Yellow Cardstock, DCS Orange Zest Cardstock, Lessebo Colors Premium White Cardstock
Preparing Cardstock Layers
Using all the beautiful cardstocks listed above, begin creating your card by cutting all the die-cut pieces. For this card, I used a candle die-cut set from Brass & Bliss. You could really use any die-cuts to make your layered cardstock cards. Each piece and each layer of thick, rich CutCardStock adds more depth and beauty to my cards.
Creating a Background
For this card, I used Lessebo Colors Premium White Cardstock for my background. I rubbed it with some oxide inks in shades of pink and purple. I splattered the oxide inked background with a splash of water. Next, I splattered it just a bit with some acrylic paint colors. Finally, I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment at the top of my card.
Layout & Preparation
The next step in creating a layered cardstock birthday card (or for any occasion) is to prepare your layout. You can use your favorite adhesive and place it on the back of each die-cut layer. Before I peeled off the sticky tape, I prepared my layout. Once I knew exactly where I wanted each candle placed, I taped them securely to the background. By not removing the sticky tape until your layout has been determined, you can assure yourself that you like how it looks.
