It’s back to school time and now is the perfect time to document those special first school day photos with a school-themed scrapbook layout! Hi it’s Kristin Lippelman here and for my layout I wanted to keep most of the attention on the photographs. In order to achieve this, I decided to go with a bold school-themed title created using CutCardStock cardstock and school-themed pattern paper to draw the eye to the photographs and use minimal embellishments.
CutCardStock Supplies:
Additional Supplies:
- Electronic cutting machine
- School-themed cut files (the ones shown on this layout are from Bramble Fox)
- Glue/adhesive
- Foam adhesive
- School-themed pattern paper and embellishments
- Paper trimmer
Creating the Title
First, I downloaded two school-themed cut files to cut on my electronic cutting machine. I cut the pencil cut file out on the Kraft String and Button Envelopes leftover from a previous project.
Next, I adhered pattern papers from my stash to the back of the pencil cut file.
Next, I cut the “Ready to Learn” cut file in both the Patriot Blue Heavyweight Cardstock and Premium Maroon Cardstock using my electronic cutting machine. Then I glued the cut files together so that the Premium Maroon Cardstock was offset slightly behind the Patriot Blue Heavyweight Cardstock.
I glued pattern paper to the back of the LEARN part of the “Ready to Learn” cut file. Next, I glued the “Ready to Learn” cut file to the pencil cut file. Finally, I added foam adhesive to the back of the cut file so that it would have a raised appearance.
Completing the Layout
To complete the layout, I picked out two school-themed pattern papers I had in my stash. I cut about 1/2 inch off each of the four sides of one of the papers and adhered it to the other paper to create a border. Next, I mounted my photographs on two additional pattern papers from my stash. I adhered the mounted photographs to the base paper and added the title slightly overlapping the photographs. And finally, I added a few sticker embellishments to the bottom left, bottom right, and top center of the photographs.
In conclusion, you don’t need a lot of stickers or embellishments to create a wonderful school-themed scrapbook layout. A bold school-themed title created using CutCardStock cardstock, pattern papers, and cut files can really create a huge impact on a layout with minimal embellishments needed! I hope this has inspired you to give cut files a try and use them on your next school-themed project!
