Do you ever get those special requests from friends or family for special cards? You know the kind – the ones that say: will you make me a triple caff, no foam, extra sugar, extra hot venti card please? Ha ha, hi – I’m Maureen (A Little Mo Crafty). That’s exactly what happened with THIS card. I got a request to make a Les Mis card for a birthday. So, I grabbed paper from my trusty CutCardStock stash and did just that! Let me show you my process.
First, I started with a Classic Crest Solar White flat card base, cut in an A2 size (4.25″ x 5.5″). I also cut a folded card in the same color and set it aside. On the flat card base, I sponged on some Distress inks in the colors and pattern of the French flag: blue, white and red.
Next, I stamped with some texture stamps over the inked base in black ink.
Then on Classic Crest Solar White, I stamped an image of a pirate girl. I thought she looked to be like this era so I colored her in French revolution colors. From there, I cut her out.
With a tiny piece of Lessebo Cherry Red, I cut out small feathers and adhered them to her hat.
After adding details to the girl with a gel pen, I also stamped and colored a floral textured image. From there, I cut it out and glued it to the bottom left corner of the flag panel. This was then mounted onto Lessebo Pitch Black paper and then a Classic Crest Solar White card base.
Then I use phone tape and mounted the girl onto the lower right side of the card. I additionally printed a sentiment on classic solar white and mounted it to the top left corner.
Finally, I added details like a scalloped ribbon trim to mimic a banner and a gold enamel dot as a button.
I remember a quote from the show: to love another person is to see the face of God. I think handmade cards can demonstrate how much you love someone, especially when you’ve customized them. Try creating one!
