Flamingo-Themed Friendship Card

Hey everybody, happy middle of July! Already. Can you believe it?! Do you love silly cards to send when you forget a birthday? It’s always fun to have a few extras in your stash just for that occasion. Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a super cute flamingo-themed friendship card. I used a nice variety of cardstock (which you’ll see below) and I love the bright summery color palette. So let’s get started!

Cut Card Base & Layers

Firstly, cut the following pieces from this assortment of cardstock:
–Side folding A2 size card base: Glama Kraft
–Front and inside layering panels plus an inside embellishing strip: Pop Tone Jellybean Green
–Inside sentiment panel: Classic Crest Recycled 100% Classic Natural White
–Narrow inside embellishing strip: Pop Tone Gumdrop Green

Die Cut Focal Elements for Flamingo-Themed Friendship Card

Secondly, die cut the following elements from this assortment of cardstock:
–Flower pots: Habanero Red, Rubber Ducky Yellow and Glama Kraft
–Plants: Pop Tone Jellybean Green and Pop Tone Gumdrop Green
–Flamingo: Flamingo, Lessebo Pitch Black and Classic Crest Solar White

Assemble these with wet glue and set them aside.

Stamp Background

Use a large brick or stone type stamp to cover the front of the card base.

Cut Embossed Oval Aperture

Using embossing dies, cut an embossed oval aperture into the center of the green front layering panel.

Adhere Layers

Now, adhere the green panel with the oval aperture to the card front.

Next, adhere the green embellishing strips to the natural white inside sentiment panel. Then adhere the panel to the remaining green layering panel.

Adhere Focal Elements to Flamingo-Themed Friendship Card

Pop up the focal elements on the card front with 1-mm and 2-mm thick foam squares. You’ll want the element in the foreground to be just a tad taller than the one in the background.

Add Sentiments

Grab some brown ink and stamp the front sentiment on the kraft and cut it with a stitched oval die. Afterwards, pop it in place with a foam square.

For the inside, stamp the sentiment in brown ink directly on the panel.
