Hello, friends! Toni here with you ready to get my merry on! Surely you’ve noticed it’s Christmas in July season? It’s hard to miss when many companies release holiday sets this month. So, let’s jump right in and talk about my two jolly nutcracker cards.
Using the right tool for the job
When working with a large background stamp, I try to use my MISTI stamp positioning tool. This way, I’m able to ink and stamp multiple times to ensure even coverage. As I’m sure you know, this can be hard to achieve with a full panel stamp. Fortunately, the Environment Desert Storm and Cougar White cardstocks I used stamped beautifully.
the kraft version
Although the cards use the same basic design, I did want to add some variation to ensure I met my personal goal of unique cards. In this case, I used a holiday word die to cut the Environment Desert Storm cardstock panel. I then sponged the letters brown.
I reassembled and adhered the front panel and letters to a pre-scored Cougar White 110lb A2 card base before adding the Copic-colored blue nutcracker on top.
The bold black & red version
I must admit this version is my favorite–the bolder palette, the simple frame, the larger nutcracker, and that banner sentiment. Chef’s kiss!
To create the nutcracker, I used Pop Tone Wild Cherry, Pop Tone Black Licorice, Stardream Metallic Eris, Cougar White, and Bright Foil Gold cardstocks. Doesn’t he look beyond spiffy?!
