Masculine Thank You Card with CutCardStock

There’s something special about creating a handmade thank you card that feels personal and thoughtful, especially when it has a fun masculine style and a little bit of humor mixed in! Hi crafty friends, Rick here, and today I’m sharing a rustic-inspired masculine thank you card featuring several amazing papers from CutCardStock. This card combines stamping, colored pencils, layered cardstock, and torn edges for a design that looks detailed without being difficult to recreate.

The finished card measures 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, making it a standard A2 card size that is perfect for mailing or hand delivering.

Create the Card Base

To begin, I created a top-folding A2 card base using Premium Cougar WHITE 110 lbs Cardstock. I cut the cardstock to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored it at 5 1/2″. This cardstock is one of my favorites for card bases because it is thick, smooth, and sturdy.

Next, I cut another piece of the same cardstock to 3″ x 4″ for the focal panel. I stamped the pig image and sentiment from the Wilbur Stamp Set using dark brown ink. To color the image, I first added soft color with Crayola Markers and a water brush. Then I finished the details with colored pencils to give the pig, flowers, and ground extra depth and texture.

Build the Background Layers

For the background, I cut Sand Castle Neutral Tan Discount Cardstock to 4″ x 5 1/4″. I repeatedly stamped the sentiment across the panel using light brown ink. This subtle background stamping adds interest without overpowering the focal image.

Next, I cut Green Curry 4×6 DCS Discount Cardstock to 3 3/4″ x 4″. I stamped the pig image randomly across the panel using light green ink. After stamping, I carefully tore the top and bottom edges by hand to create extra texture.

A quick tip here: tear slowly and remove only small sections at a time. You want just enough distressing to add texture without losing too much of the cardstock layer.

To add even more color and dimension, I cut Blue Calico DCS Discount Card Stock to 1″ x 4″ and layered a 1/2″ x 4″ strip of Pop Tone Orange Fizz Cardstock over the center. The texture in the Blue Calico cardstock adds visual interest without needing embossing folders, which keeps the design simple and easy to assemble.

I wrapped burlap twine around the layered strips several times and tied it into a bow before adhering everything to the card front.

Finish the Card

To complete the focal point, I layered the stamped image onto another piece of Blue Calico cardstock cut to 3 1/8″ x 4 1/8″. Foam tape behind the focal panel gives the card extra dimension and helps draw attention to the adorable pig image.

Finally, I added a few white gel pen highlights for those finishing touches that really bring the image to life.

Why This Design Works

I wanted this project to feel masculine while still being playful and warm. The earthy color palette paired with the rustic torn edges and twine creates a design that would be perfect for sending to a male friend, family member, or coworker.

This card is also great for any skill level. Beginners can practice layering and simple coloring, while more experienced crafters can enjoy building texture and dimension throughout the design.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this project inspires you to combine texture, stamping, and bold cardstock colors on your next masculine card design.
