Love Card With Two Step Embossing

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and weddings or anniversaries happen all year. Karen here with a happy heart hello and a card perfect for any love celebration using a two step embossing technique.

Aren’t the texture and different shades on this embossed card amazing? Here are the easy steps to achieve this look:

Gather Your Supplies

CutCardStock Used:

Stardream Metallic Card Stock (Azalea)

CTI Glama Natural Translucent (Vellum) CLEAR 48lb Cover 8.5×11 Card Stock

Classic CREST SOLAR WHITE Card Stock 8.5×11

Other Supplies Used:

Honey Bee Stamps 3D Embossing Folder and Heart Die

Layered Love Die from Gina K Designs

White Pigment Ink (Taylored Expressions Sugar Cube)

Spellbinders Platinum 6 Embossing and Diecutting Machine

First step when embossing a die cut focal point is always to die cut first. If the embossing is done first it will flatten when running through the die cutting machine to die cut.

Messy But Well Worth It

Before embossing the heart center, tape the heart die cut down to the embossing folder  lined up with the heart embossing. Next rub white pigment ink generously over the center of the top of the embossing folder. This is the messy part but when the heart is embossed with the addition of white ink, the background is a different shade than the upper raised flowers. Clean the embossing folder with a large alcohol wipe or alcohol spray.

Assembling The Card

The next step is to adhere the card front to a 5 x 7 card base created with Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. The center heart piece is attached with pop dots for raised dimension. Finally glue the white die cut “love” onto a vellum shadow and glue onto the heart with liquid glue just under the letters. Here is another look at the completed card:

I hope this card inspires you to give this easy embossing technique a try. Then join me in sending some handmade joy out into our world!
