Classic Truck Birthday Card

Hello, friends! Happy Tuesday – I hope your week is going along nicely! Do you have family or friends who love classic cars and trucks? Oh, my husband sure does. Leslie here, sharing a tutorial for making a simple masculine birthday card featuring a variety of our cardstock. This set of truck dies is from a fairly new Spellbinders collection and I sure have enjoyed using them. Let’s get started!

Card Base & Layers

Firstly, grab a pre-folded card base (huge time saver) and then cut the following layers:
1. Card base: Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White A2 Pre-Folded Card Base
2. Front and inside layering panels: Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock
3. Inside layering panel and sentiment strip: Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock
4. Sentiment strip layer: Stardream Metallic Lagoon cardstock
5. Vellum strip layer: Glama Natural Clear Translucent Vellum

Create Focal Image & Sentiment

Secondly, using your choice of truck dies, cut the following pieces for the focal image:
1. Truck body: Stardream Metallic Lagoon cardstock
2. Bed trim, running board, truck interior: Pop Tone Hot Fudge cardstock
3. Tires, sentiment: Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock
4. Grill, bumper, hub caps, other trim: Bright Silver Foil cardstock
5. Seat, tire walls: Royal Sundance Kraft Fiber cardstock

Now adhere the sentiment strip layers and staple the ends with a tiny stapler. Add the die cut sentiment.

Adhere Layers

Run the white front layering panel through your die cutting machine with an argyle embossing folder.

Next, adhere the white inside layering panel to the black cardstock layer and add an embellishing strip if desired. This step is optional – I cut one from a Lagoon cardstock scrap.

Additionally, adhere a piece of black craft foam on the back side of the embossed panel to give it some dimension.

Assemble Front Panel

Glue the sentiment strip across the bottom portion of the embossed panel. When adhering the truck, allow the front tire to extend over the top edge of the sentiment strip.

Complete Classic Truck Birthday Card

Stamp a sentiment in black ink on a scrap piece of Solar White cardstock, Cut it with a strip die and adhere it to the inside panel. This completes this very cool card!

Summing up, these are the other products I used:

INK: Versafine Onyx Black Ink
