Create a Happy New Year Banner

Hey crafty friends! It’s Tiffani from A Krafting Alley, and today I’m excited to share a festive project—how to make a Happy New Year Banner using an SVG I designed. This banner is perfect for decorating your space for New Year’s Eve and/or New Year’s Day, and it’s a fun way to add some handmade sparkle to your celebration!

You’ll just need your electronic cutting machine, some cardstock from CutCardStock.com, a few adhesives and some twine to bring this banner to life.

Supplies Used

Let’s Get Crafting

After choosing my cardstock colors, I cut out each SVG piece on my Silhouette Cameo 5 using my electrostatic mat. Once everything was cut, I grouped the pieces to stay organized—letters together, stars together, and then the pieces for the champagne bottle, champagne glass, and fireworks.

Before taking small pieces off your cutting mat (especially the fireworks), place a piece of Glad Press’n Seal on top. It keeps everything together and makes it so much easier to glue the layers onto their bases without pieces shifting or figuring out where to place them.

Step 1: Assemble the Fireworks

I started by building the fireworks.

This gives the fireworks a bright, layered look that really stands out on the banner.

Step 2: Put Together the Champagne Glass

For the champagne glass:

This extra dimension makes it pop beautifully on the banner.

Step 3: Assemble the Champagne Bottle

Next, I worked on the champagne bottle.

Just like the glass, this gives the bottle great dimension and makes it look extra festive.

Step 4: Layer the Stars

To assemble the stars:

Step 5: String the Banner

Time to bring it all together!

I grabbed my black and white twine and began stringing the pieces.

For the words “New Year”:

For the word “Happy”:

Once everything was strung and shifted and spaced out well, I trimmed the twine to leave enough length on both ends to hang the banner.

Finished Banner

And that’s it! You now have a festive, sparkly, and dimensional Happy New Year Banner that’s perfect for ringing in the new year. Hang it on your mantle, doorway, dessert table, or anywhere you want to add some New Year cheer.
