Snow or shine

Winter has definitely settled in here in the Upper Midwest. Natalie here and this card feels like the perfect way to send a little warmth to someone I care about. I’m really into all things snowmen right now. So, of course I had to use one of my new snowman sets for this. I even broke out my slightly neglected Copic Markers for this card. I forgot how much I love using them.

Let’s start by taking a look at my card.

To start, I first chose my color palette. For the snowman, I went with soft pinks and an aqua-blue sky

Cardstock Materials

Creating the Card Base

To begin, create your card base using Lessebo Amazon cardstock. Cut it to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″ to form a side-folding card base. Next, die-cut a panel from Pink Tutu cardstock using a scalloped edge die. Adhere this panel to a piece of Cougar White cardstock. Trim it down so a small white border frames the Pink Tutu layer.

Focal

Stamp your image and sentiment onto another piece of Cougar White cardstock using Memento Ink. Then it’s time for the coloring. I had so much fun pulling out my Copic markers again. I’d forgotten how much I enjoy using them, and I’m hoping to incorporate them into more of my projects. Also, the Cougar White is such a nice paper for Copic Coloring.

After coloring the image, I cut it out using an arched-top die. I took care to ensure the arch framed the snowman perfectly. To create a layered look, I also die-cut the next largest arched-top die from more of the Lessebo Amazon cardstock. This gives the focal image a clean, coordinated mat that helps it stand out on the card.

Finishing Touches

I realized the card could use a little something extra. I embossed vellum with a snowflake design and layered it behind the snowman and sentiment. Such a simple touch, but it really made the card pop.

I put the card together as shown. Using foam adhesive and adding a few bits of sparkle and the card was done.
