Hello everyone, Natalie here!
Today I’m sharing a fun Halloween project—one of my favorite times of the year. I just love everything about the season From the crisp air, to the decorations. But especially seeing my grandchildren all dressed up in their costumes. They’re always so excited, running around with big smiles, wanting to collect as much candy as they can. It’s so fun to watch!
For today’s card, I kept things clean and simple, but I really love how it turned out. The main focus is the cardstock—it does most of the talking on this design. My card base is made with Vellum, also known as Curious Translucent Clear 65lb cardstock. The weight of this is actually perfect for card bases. It gives the card a soft, unique feel while still letting some light and color shine through.
Let’s take a look at my card
Along with the vellum I used
I love how these colors complement each other—perfect for this time of year
How I made this card
- Cut the vellum to 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 and score at 4 1/4 to make a side folding card
- Using a die, cut out a white rectangle with the Classic Crest Solar white
- 3 die cut all the images as shown. I cut the orange base and the Metallic background three times each to give more depth to the card.
- Images were adhered as shown
- Using some Black Oxide ink, add a touch of water, then use a paintbrush to splatter onto the card.
- To complete the look, I tied a bow of orange and white baker’s twine along the fold of the card.
Here is another view of my card
I really love how the shiny metallic cardstock pops next to the soft texture of the orange. The shimmer adds a fun touch, and the orange gives it a warm, cozy feel—it’s such a great combo.
Are you making any Halloween-themed cards or projects? Let me know, I would love to check them out.
